HOW is it almost 2019?! This year I’ve had my highest points and my lowest points to date. Funnily enough its actually been the best year of my life. I’d like to say having my daughter and meeting my partner were the best years but they certainly weren’t. I’m exactly where I’m meant to be right now and I’m the best possible version of myself. (Although I know I can get better) I couldn’t be happier with how my year turned out – I discovered antidepressants turn my world around, another year with my partner and we couldn’t be stronger as a couple and seeing Isabella grow into a beautiful sassy little girl were just a few of my many highlights. Realising who is worth our time and who is not has made me into a stronger person and I’m thankful for that.
I’ve achieved everything I wanted and more for 2018. (Okay so I expected to be some big famous YouTuber and that clearly didn’t happen.) But no seriously though, I’ve felt happiness I haven’t felt in nearly a decade. So I thought it would be rude of me not to share my 2019 goals. I have some financial ones, some materialistic ones and many goals to make me the best person I can be. So here we go..
(ps. the more random the better, I say.)
healthier diet | cut down on sugar
This goes without saying really. But I mean like not just a few apples in the first week of January and then ‘starting the diet again on Monday’. I’m going hard or going home. I was going to cut sugar out altogether because I believe it has a big impact on depression and my mood. But let’s be real, it can’t be done overnight. I’m limiting myself majorly and I plan on doing 30 day stints where I don’t eat any sugar. Hopefully I can pull through, I’m quite determined and strong willed so it shouldn’t be the death of me. Who knows!
Spend more time cooking – and actually enjoy it!
I hate cooking. Like, so much that it drains all my energy just thinking about it. I want to make a conscious effort to make a big deal out of meal time and get Isabella involved. We’re not the biggest foodies around so I’d love to try more foods, flavours and maybe have a special dish of mine. (ha I wish!) This will go perfectly with my healthy eating choices. I can’t wait!
learn to sew
Okay so I’ve wanted to sew for a long time. I would love to be the mum that pulls the fab costume together using my bare hands. Or the mum with the cool curtains because I made them myself (who says cool curtains..) Even just taking up a pair of trousers, I mean, all mums can do this right? I don’t want to be learning in my 40’s so I’m going to make sure i can sew by next year. So if anyone wants a cushion cover made I’m your gal.
read more books
I always say this and although I’m always reading blog posts, I want to get stuck in a book. In the bath, in bed, it’s the perfect way to wind down. I’ve got my heart set on a few books, especially ‘The Secret’ sequel. I’m more into manifesting/spiritual and wellbeing books than a story book so hopefully I’ll be a new woman by the end of the year. If you have any recommendations please let me know! And if you’re interested in this kind of thing then get at me, because I’m sure I can help!
get off social media by 10pm
Self explanatory really. By getting off social media, I can actually relax before I go to bed instead of working myself up and letting my mind going round and round, stressing about life and the crap that comes with it.
Introduce a little more organisation
In the sense that I actually stick to a daily routine. I want a routine that works for me to keep me on top of the massive list of jobs and stresses I give myself everyday. I like being busy but in a more structured way and hopefully I’ll use my diary all the way through to the end of the year! Who has bought themselves a diary and actually used it til the end of the year? I don’t know anyone that has!
spend less, save more
I went a little crazy in 2018 when it came to spending (and the year before, and the year before that.) I’ve set myself some big goals to save my ass off. I’m not taking my bank card out with me anymore, just the amount of cash I need to get what I went out for! I plan on saving a set amount by the end of the year, so I’ll let you know if I reach it! (Houses don’t come cheap do they?!) We’re also looking at opening a savings account for Isabella to open when she is 18-21. Slacking I know, I should’ve done this when she was first born!
improve my photography skills and blog
This is a biggie of mine. I would love to be a flat-lay queen and I’m so looking forward to next year with my new camera and equipment to improve my skills. On top of that, I would love for my blog to actually get somewhere. Wether it be affiliate marketing or something along them lines. I’d LOVE to earn an income blogging it’s a massive passion of mine but as I’ve just started out I wouldn’t know where to begin. Who knows, maybe by the end of the year! I’m excited to see where it may take me! I have big hopes and dreams for my blog in the coming years. I’ve finally found something I love to do. So it can only get better from here on out!
Is it obvious I’ve just learnt this word when googling how to speak less common? I can’t even pronounce this word but it basically means using words well. I’d love to improve my writing skills on my blog and not speak so ‘common’. I can come across ‘thick’ as some might say, and although I don’t have a problem with that – I would love to know more intellectual words and pronounce words properly. Like the word butter.
unfollow everything | everyone who makes me feel bad
I’m on about them pretty girls on instagram that makes us feel pale, fat and like our clothes are ugly. You know the ones! And whilst they aren’t meaning to, those tiny Instagram squares make us feel like we don’t have our shit together, when really we do. So I’m going to do a little less following on them accounts and a little more on the people I can connect with and maybe make some friends! I’ll be unsubscribing from all the brands I like to spend my money on, just so I can’t be tempted to look at their ‘20% off’ offer! (Before you know it, you’ve spent £36 on clothes you didn’t need.)
more family time
We have family time whenever we can, but it usually means staying in and watching a film. It gets as spontaneous as the ‘park’ for us. As much as I love this, I want to get Isabella out into the big wide world a little more, so she can explore what is out there, as well as making memories and taking lots of pictures.
introduce Isabella and I to a class
So I’m really looking to forward to getting fit in 2019. I would really love a personal trainer but I’m not sure I can fit this in to my current schedule so I’m going to start a fitness class (where I can take Isabella along) in the early weeks of January. On top of weight lifting at home, and gym sessions, let’s just say I’ll be one hot mama by the end of the year! I’m also introducing Isabella to Baby Ballet and hoping to take her swimming every other week! This may not be a goal to many, but getting Isabella into a pool with her slight fear of water and my anxiety, is a biggie!
So these are most of my goals I’ve set myself. I do have a couple more but they aren’t really anything, just small changes or things I need to just get done that I’ve been meaning to do for the last few months. I’m so excited for what 2019 is going to bring and I hope you all achieve your goals you’ve set yourself! Never let anyone tell you your wildest dreams can’t be your reality, it’s yours for the taking. Happy New year huns!
