my go-to fake tans
I have been a religious fake tanner since I was 16 – (also repping the foundation lips). I did briefly get fed up of the smell and started using sunbeds but I noticed my skin was sagging and realised I couldn’t keep up with it if I didn’t want to look like a leather bag at 30, so I jumped back on the bandwagon because a tan is the key to my heart! Who doesn’t feel like a straight 10 after a tan? Whiter teeth, brighter eyes, slimmer body and even your nail varnish pops! (well I think so anyway) I’m here to give you my go – to tans because I genuinely feel for the people who can’t seem to get a decent fake tan look! I’ve put together my faves!
bondi sands – liquid gold
I’ve been literally obsessed with this since the day it was born! I first discovered it on another blog and didn’t really understand what it was about. You’re probably looking at the before and after thinking what is this woman on, there’s no difference?! now I did originally think this was one of them tans that develop overnight but still gives you an indication to where you’re putting it. I was wrong. It definitely develops over night BUT it doesn’t show up straight away. I WILL vouch for this tan though because it is incredible to use on your face and hands! I religiously use this on my face and hands every time. It doesn’t clog your pores and it doesn’t get into your knuckle creases! Definitely worth the price tag at £14.99. (Currently on offer for £7.49!) It comes in spray form and lasts for ages! Up there with the best tans I’ve used and so buildable. PS. Don’t forget to moisturise your dry bits and shave in the shower the night before!
st Moritz spray- dark
This was the first fake tan I’ve ever used and for some reason I only needed one layer of medium to give me the Dominican Republic 3 week holiday look (I’m not even joking). I felt like a queen and loved that my skin just seemed to zap it up! Then I suppose I got a little confident and my skin thought ‘You know what actually, naa’ That or they changed the formula! But I must say when I did use it, it was INCREDIBLE. It was only £2.99 at the time! Now, I’ve gone back to St. Moritz because it turns out children aren’t all that cheap and they raved about a new formula so I just had to see what the fuss was about! The price has increased to £3.99/£4.99 depending if you get from b&m/Poundland or Boots. I decided to try the spray form because a lovely lady I follow on instagram swears by this tan and she has the most incredible tan I’ve ever laid my eyes on. So I gave it whirl, and although I don’t look like her, it does my legs the world of good! (In tan form). I feel like this tan gives off a deeper colour on my legs then any other part of my body. I swear by this tan if you are on a budget! They now have extended their range and stock tan removers and facial tanners so definitely worth a look.
Bondi sands mousse – dark
Holy macaroni – This is my ultimate holy grail tans of all tans! So we have liquid gold – perfect for hands and face. St Moritz dark – the cheap replica. And then THE one – the Bondi Sands mousse in dark! Alot of people prefer the Ultra Dark Mousse to the standard Dark Mousse as they don’t find a big difference between the colour it gives. I find it all depends on your skin and the way it soaks up fake tan. I absolutely love this tan and if I have the funds, the cash is getting splashed on this! it’s currently on offer at the moment in Boots.com – £9.99 instead of£14.99 so I’m stocking up! This tan just keeps developing and truth be told, I’ve left this tan on for nearly two days before rinsing it off (gross I know) and it just kept getting darker! I found the tan stayed nicer for longer – the longer I went without showering. The smell is a lovely coconut scent! Be sure to cover your bedsheets, it does love to transfer!
b.tan – 1 hour dark brown tan
okay lets get one thing straight, I don’t believe this to be ‘dark’ at all. This is not why I like it. I like it because it’s the only tan I’ve come across that hasn’t left a slightly orange undertone. Like THE ONLY ONE. Even Bondi Sands does slightly, but there are too many good things about that tan to even give two – about it being slightly orange. It also doesn’t develop after an hour. It does take a good ’12 hours/sleep over night’ kind of tan time to develop. It means streak free when it says streak free, I love it! From the pictures you can’t really tell where the tan is applied but it honestly is the best ‘natural slightly tanned’ fake tan – even though it says dark, weird I know! It’s a lotion and quite a thick one at that. But it glides on like a dream and it gives a nice colour when applying, so you can see where you’ve been! As you can see it only looks slightly different when applied! I definitely recommend this tan if you’re wanting a slightly more natural brown tan! A very good starter tan for beginners!
What are your go-to tans? Would love to try out some more!
